My husband Mike drew me this picture of the Castor Bean with colored pencils. I then scanned his drawing and printed it on fabric in various sizes. I fused the fabric appliqué and quilted it. Priority Quilts for the
Alzheimer's Art
Quilt Initiative |
Wild Fires "9" x 12"
This piece is dedicated to my grandmother who lived just past 100.
Blessed Are the Caregivers "9" x 12"
This piece was for a special auction depicting Alzheimer's. My sister-in-law purchased it in honor of her step-dad.
|
Running Out of Time "9" x 12"
With this disease we are always
racing against the clock. “I hope Grandma will still
recognize John when he graduates in two years.” “I
hope Amy gets married before Auntie is too confused to
travel.” “If only there would be a new treatment
before Grandpa gets any worse”. For Debbie, my
friend, we are out of time. She needs to be moved now to
Assisted Living. The cure did not come in time for her.
I chose the purple thread for Alzheimer’s awareness. The
thread is fading as the time is running out. The grey
fabrics symbolize the shadows of memories that are left.
This piece is dedicated to
Debbie who has early onset Alzheimer's.
Garden "9" x 12"
This piece is dedicated to my grandmother who lived just past 100.
